Cirlce of Friend Award!

Thank you so much to the lovely Ann from (VINTAGE AT THE CORNER HOUSE) for giving me this award. It was so lovely of you to think of me.

The conditions of accepting the Award are:
  • List five things I like doing.
  • Pass the Award on to five more Bloggers I would like to know a little more about.
Here we go then...!

  1. Antique Fairs...I love going to Antique Fairs, where I have met so many lovely stall holders over the years which have become very good friends. If I am not at a Fair, you will find me at a charity shop or an auction.

  2. Collecting...I love collecting things from the 1940's or 50's, which has got way out of hand, I am ashamed to admit, I have become a terrible hoarder! Most people have a few embroidered tablecloths; I have ended up with hundreds of items from collecting them over many years. If it's not tablecloths it's vintage scarf's, children's handkerchiefs, vintage aprons, etc... I think I could go on for ever more on this one. I have promised myself when I get a few hours spare I am going to have a major clear out.

  3. Books...I love reading before I go to sleep, especially novels from the 1940's and 50's era. Dee Williams is one of my favourite Authors.

  4. Little weekends away...I love going away in my caravan for weekend's, which sadly is not very often these day's. Last year we did go away however, to a 1940's weekend at Sheringham, which I had never done before. I loved it so much we are hopefully going to go again this year. If anyone loves the 1940's, I highly recommend it!! Hubby even got arrested for not having a dog licence, which was so funny because it really was like being back in those day's when you are there.

  5. Things that make me smile...I love having things around my house that make me smile, which is mostly cute little things that I would never part with. Like this card that was given to me by my 21 year old son Gavin (Munchkins) and his girlfriend five years ago just before he died. Which I look at every morning, as well as the little fairy that was given to him on Christmas morning the day he was born by my mum. He would always laugh at the funny things I would bring back home from a Fair or a car boot, and think his 40 something mum was going a bit mad!!

I hope this post has given a little more about me, and the things I like doing.

These are the 5 Bloggers I would like to give the Circle of Friends Award to;
  1. Hen House
  2. BOBO BUN
  3. Country Cottage Chic
  4. At Home with Mel Mel
  5. TABIBOO

Remember me saying last week I was going to show you the old brown dressing table that I was trying to finish painting. Well hear she is all finished!!

I know she is Green!! and not every ones cup of Tea.. But she will fit in very happy with all the rest of the thing's I have around house.

The rest of the week I have been scooting around the charity shops, and managed to find a few pretty things.

Like this pretty little plastic necklace, that I really love.

And these lovely 1950's curtains, that will hopefully fit my bathroom window.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!! x
Thank you so much everyone, who left a message on my last post it was so very kind of you all.
And I cannot thank you enough.
I was looking forward to be writing this post on a more cheerful note, but today it has been a rush trip to the doctors. When I woke up this morning, my left arm was still very painful, swollen and red from where I had the Tetanus injection last week. I wasn't too worried about that, it was the uncontrollable twitching in that arm that worried me. It turns out that I am having a very bad allergic reaction to the Tetanus jab, and to be quite honest I am felling a bit low and not my usual self, "I was hopping that knock on the head would have knocked some sense into me"... "Well I think that's what my hubby was hoping for!!!

On a happier note, these are a few glimpses of some of recent finds. A lovely embroidered Tea cosy cover.

And I love these two hand embroidered little pictures, sadly there is no hook at the back of them.

A sweet pair of Bookends.

And finally this lovely old picture, that I am hoping to put up on my bedroom wall. ( definitely NOT near the stairs )

Enjoy the rest of the week everyone, hopefully fingers crossed it might be lovely and sunny !! xx
Yesterday I spent most of the day at the Hospital ...All because of this picture!!!

What happened was.. The other day I found at a charity shop a lovely bright yellow wooden coat stand, not all that keep on bright yellow! So I thought I would put it in the spare bedroom ( junk room) till I had time to paint it. As I was carrying it up the stairs it knocked the picture off the wall, and the picture landed on my head!!!
It honestly felt like somebody had hit me over the head with a brick..I just sat on the stairs and burst into tears, and then saw all this blood dripping from my head. I thought I was going to pass out! as I walked into the kitchen and looked in the mirror my face and dressing gown was just covered in blood.
Should I phone an Ambulance or phone hubby... I ended up screaming down phone to hubby, "get here quick I am bleeding to death!!! ( NEUROTIC OR WHAT)
So I grabbed my tracksuit bottoms, " the ones I had on the night before; Well I couldn't go to the Hospital in my disgusting dressing gown!... I think hubby was shocked when he saw the state of me!!!

After a long wait to see a Doctor, a kind nurse gave me a Tetanus jab, and all the other things like my blood presser taken e.g. The doctor finally arrived, and started asking me all sorts of questions as I sat on the bed " like did I have blurred vision" e.g.
"Then all of a sudden" I looked down at my navy blue tracky bottoms, and to my "HORROR"
I spotted grains of " DRIED SPECIAL FRIED RICE" stuck on the bottom of my trackies, from the Chinese I had the night before. All I could think about was... how ashamed I was going up the Hospital like this, with dried rice stuck to my clothes. SHOULD I FLICK IT OFF!! Before he saw it... or try and cover it with my hand?... I think I must have made thing's worse because he kept asking me if my ankle was hurting.

Thank goodness when he went out to see one of the nurses!!!
He couldn't make his mind up to weather to glue my head, or leave it to heal on it's own. As the cut didn't look SO bad when they had cleaned me up..." YES I FLICKED IT OFF" I am ashamed to admit!!! And worst of all, he told me I cannot wash my hair for another four or five day's, which needed washing already.

I know my Mum will be looking down on me now and laughing!! .. She always said "Make sure you always have clean knickers on, and clean clothes. You never know when you have to go somewhere in an.. EMERGENCY !!!
These last few day's I have been spending most of my time painting a lovely old dressing table, it will have it's final coat of paint tomorrow. So fingers crossed...I can show you some pictures later in the week of how it turned out!!

In -between painting I did manage to buy a few vintage goodies to keep me happy!!
Some old fabric to add to my collection.

This cute plastic Spillers dog hook to hang my key's on.

And this lovely old Jacobs floral tin,... "That I love to bit's!!!
Enjoy the rest of the week.. x
These are a few Glimpses of my clean and tidy bathroom; I had forgotten what it looked like just lately to be as tidy as this. I thought I would take a few photos so I can remind my son Nicky this is how it can look!
I know I shouldn't moan really, he is so lucky to be working in the building trade at the moment.
But it's like walking on Skegness beach in the house when he comes in," sand and grit dropping off his clothes everywhere".

But I cannot really make him strip all his clothes off outside...."CAN I" ( bless him)

So I suppose it's ..."KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON" cleaning up after him!!

As promised on my last post, I said I would show you my valentine's bargains from Primark. A friend of mine popped around a couple of weeks ago armed with gorgeous pink spotty and floral bags to show me....And bless her she knows that I cannot resist anything spotty, especially if it's a bag!! And when she said they were only £6.00 " Well there was no stopping me ......
Primark here I come!!!

Lovely gift bag for my sisters
Pink floral top for me.. £6.00
Long black floral scarf.. £3.00
Gorgeous floral bag, gift from hubby £9.00 I think? As it was a gift!

"And my other Two favourite bags!!

Pink spotty bag £6.00
Gorgeous floral bag £6.00 ? .. Another gift from hubby!
Butterfly brooch £3.00
Pink spotty wrapping paper £1.00
Blue spotty wrapping paper £1.00
"
They were definitely my bargains of the day!!!

"Hope you all have a lovely weekend"xx
These are some of the other things I managed to pick up at Newark's Antique fair.

I am not quite sure what I am going to do with this lovely old sheet music, I just loved the cover.
"Maybe it might look good in a frame !!!

I love this blue knitting needles case, which was full of old needles....." Why do I keep buying coloured knitting needles and pretty cases for them!!!! I haven't knitted for about twenty years.
Maybe one day I might have ago again, well I think I might have caught up with showing you my finds from Newark.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! And you all received lots of Valentines cards and flowers.
Hubby and I had a lovely day out in Lincoln, and went to Primark where I picked up a few cheap floral goodies which I will try and show you later on in the week. I have got myself right behind showing you some of the vintage items I bought a couple of weeks ago at Newark's Antiques fair..... Can't believe I am that far behind, looks like I am going to have to get my finger out!!!

These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago when I had just got back from Newark, so you might notice on one of my last posts the pictures on the wall. They went up the same day I bought them," same old me" getting all excited with all my new things. I even have to start arranging them all over the house as soon as I walk in the door!!!!

My saying is..... " Boy's and there toys" and girls with there pretties!!!!

I keep looking at this picture, and trying to work out if her head looks too big for her body!!!

This last picture has a couple of marks at the bottom, but i still love it!!!
I forgot to tell you who won the bet on the splash back, my son Nicky did. I left it in the kitchen for seven days..." it's in my work room now. " WORLD RECORD " well it is for me.

What do you do when it's four o'clock in the morning, and you can't sleep.... I end up making a cushion, well choosing the fabric and cutting it out. Waiting for daylight hour's till I can get my dusty sewing machine out, it must be month's since i made a cushion. Then I ended up unpicking the back because i forgot to hem one of ends. How easy it is to forget simple thing's when you haven't done one for a while.
After going back to bed for a couple of hour's, well I lasted out till about six o'clock!!
When i got up I finished the cushion off and then started looking for a little photo frame that I bought last year and never did anything with. Found some leftover" Louise Loves" wallpaper that I did my bedroom in some years ago, then found one of my old postcards and some tiny flowers and glued them onto the frame. .....And this is how it turned out, I think it looks quite sweet for my first attempted.
The rest of the day was taken up lining a basket, with this really sweet fabric. Which was an old pillowcase thatI have cut up to line the basket in.

This one has ended up in my bedroom on top of a small cupboard, were I keep my gorgeous Fairy dolls that I bought last year off Niki "from Nostalgia at the stone house". Sorry Niki if you read this I would of liked to put a link to your site just then, but its a bit too technical for me. I am still learning to do basic things on my blog, so please everyone bear with me if I keep making mistakes..... WellI have got a big red clock now so everyone can see the time!!!! ( does that mean I'm getting there slowly?.
"Have a lovely weekend everyone" x
